About Wyki Discussion Engine
The Wyki development team set out to innovate in the area of threaded discussion. Two issues addressed where the simple display of often-complex
reply hierarchies and the ability to embed a complete discussion engine within an existing system.
- all replies shown in a single easy to read, easy to navigate list- no horrible nesting
- intelligent algorithm (patent pending) allows you to explore the replies without getting lost
- shows what a reply was in response to and displays it on-demand
- shows how many responses a reply has had and displays them on-demand
- replies can be formatted using familiar WYSIWYG editor- no need to learn markup
- built on a highly scalable, robust, super-fast, database
- embeddable as an extension to any existing system
James has an issue that he wants to discuss with his colleagues so he creates a new discussion thread.
Geoff sees the thread, realises he can help so he posts a reply.
Sarah also posts a reply.
Posts are shown in the order that they were made but to make things easier they're written in a temporary box that appears next to the text being replied to.
Phil replies to Geoff's post.
All the replies to James' discussion are shown in the order that they were made.
Geoff's post shows that it's had 1 reply (Phil's post).
Phil's post shows that it wasn't in reply to the post directly above but a different post (Geoff's post).
If Phil's post is clicked it will popup the post that it was in reply to (Geoff's post) in a temporary box.
